Description
The Tibetan Mastiff is large, powerful, heavy, and well built. Their body is slightly longer than tall. They have a broad, massive head.


Size
This breed is 25-28 inches tall and weigh 140-170 pounds. The Tibetan Mastiff is very large.


Coat
The Tibetan Mastiff has a thick coat, with a wooly undercoat. It's coat is heavy, dense and of medium-length.


Color
The standard colors of the Tibetan Mastiff include; black, black & tan, blue gray, blue gray & tan, brown, brown & tan, and red gold.


Temperament
This breed is brave, fearless, and very protective. The Tibetan Mastiff is also loyal and dignified. They are good with child in most cases, but distrusts strangers.


Care
The coat of the Tibetan Mastiff should be combed and brushed regularly. Check the ears and eyes for any signs of infections.


Exercise
The Tibetan Mastiff requires daily exercise in the form of walks or play. Take care not to over exercise as they are not meant for lots of activity. Jogging is too hard on the joints due to the breed's size.


Training
It is important to obedience train this breed. Thoroughly socialized and train the Tibetan Mastiff to become a fine family companion. It comes naturally to this Mastiff to guard its family and their property.


Shedding
The thick double coat of the Tibetan Mastiff only sheds once per year during a four week period. They are good for allergy sufferers.


Barking & Howling
They are a nocturnal barker, but in the house the Tibetan Mastiff is fairly quiet.


Life Expectancy
A well cared for Tibetan Mastiff can live about 14 years.


Health
In general a healthy breed they are prone to a few different problems including; hip dysplasia, skin conditions, thyroid problems, and ear infections.
